What happens to your typing data?
You can use Typlora without an account. Here is a practical explanation of what stays in your browser and when an optional feature may send limited information to a server.
What stays on your device
Typing tests store WPM, accuracy, duration, aggregate mistakes, lesson progress and settings in browser storage. Precision Lab and Fluency Lab also retain counts of attempts and errors by key or letter pair. Your custom practice text is not stored with your test history. Word Coach saves limited mistake counts for words in built-in exercises, never full typed passages, and excludes imported personal text and code.
Saved setups and settings links
The saved-setup manager stores up to 8 configurations per language, including the label you choose. These are local preferences, separate from your results: results JSON backups do not include them and clearing your history does not remove them. You can delete setups individually in the manager. A settings link contains the mode, duration, difficulty, text size and optional code language, but no setup name, typed text or results. A link does not guarantee identical random text and does not synchronize progress between devices.
Using your own text
When you paste or import a .txt file, your browser reads the text locally to create a practice session. The content is used for your current session and is not included in JSON backups. A shared race link carries test settings, not your private practice text.
Personal and shared leaderboards
Your local tournament rankings and local nickname stay in this browser. If the operator configures the optional online backend and you explicitly opt in, a nickname, score and aggregate test measurements may be sent for the public leaderboard. The online feature is disabled until configured. The project backend includes deletion of public scores older than 45 days, but the operator must deploy and verify that process on the real server.
Export, import and delete
Use the Progress section on the homepage to download a JSON backup, restore it in another browser, export CSV or clear local history. Clearing this site’s storage in browser settings also removes local preferences and progress. Treat exported backups as personal files, especially on shared computers.
Advertising and third-party services
The source package does not enable AdSense scripts, external analytics or a consent platform. If the site is launched with ads, analytics or other services, its operator needs to update the documentation, publish appropriate legal notices and arrange any required consent mechanisms. This technical explainer is not a complete legal privacy notice.
One practical example
After ten tests, Typlora can recall your speed, accuracy and difficult keys without keeping the ten passages you typed. If you choose to submit a score to an enabled public leaderboard, your chosen nickname and score may then be visible to others.
Important: This page describes the distributed Typlora software. The website operator must provide appropriate legal notices based on the actual deployment.
