Daily typing sprint: your 60-second benchmark

A new round starts every day at 00:00 UTC. You get a fixed selection of medium-difficulty words for sixty seconds. The clock begins with your first keystroke, and the app calculates speed and accuracy as you type. Ending the test early does not count as a leaderboard attempt. You can retry throughout the day, but a useful comparison comes from completing the same length of test under similar conditions.

Weekly marathon: two minutes of sustained accuracy

Every Monday at 00:00 UTC a new two-minute round begins. The weekly challenge is harder than the daily sprint, making it a better check of sustained concentration. Everyone using the same language sees the same deterministic text for that week, regardless of country or local timezone. The period ends at the following Monday’s UTC midnight.

How your personal leaderboard works

After a completed test, Typlora checks for at least 50 correctly typed characters, 90 percent accuracy, and a plausible typing speed. Qualifying attempts are ordered by WPM, then accuracy and mistakes. You see only your five best attempts stored on this device. The display name is a local label, not a verified identity, and a separate public leaderboard can also show scores from other participants if the owner activates the optional service and the player opts in.

Share the same tournament round with friends

Use Share tournament to copy a round link containing the round type and UTC date. It contains no typing history or typed text. Friends opening the link before the deadline receive exactly the same passage when they use the same language. An expired link cannot reopen an older round: you need a new link for a new day or week.

Your data stays local and what that means

Results and tournaments use browser localStorage. Local records can be edited by the device owner. The optional online board issues one-time tickets and checks elapsed time server-side, but it cannot prove human typing or securely authenticate player identities. You can export your results to JSON and import them in another browser; version 6 backups include tournament attempts.

How to make daily practice useful

Start by aiming for clean keystrokes rather than a number on the screen. Alternate short sprints and longer weekly sessions to test both speed and consistency. Finally, use the mistake heatmap and adaptive lessons to practice keys that cause repeated errors: targeted work tends to reveal progress more clearly than repeating random drills.

Optional public leaderboards in Typlora

The site owner may connect a Cloudflare Worker and D1 database. Without it, tournaments stay completely local. When enabled, users must opt in before typing to submit a display name and aggregated score. Their typed passage and full typing history are not uploaded. Public scores are kept for up to 45 days. Tickets and server-side timing prevent basic replay attacks, but do not prove a human entered the characters.

Keep a private local record, or opt in to the shared online ranking if the service is configured.

Frequently asked questions

Is an online leaderboard available?

The personal board is local; a separate online ranking is available only after the optional backend has been configured, and you must explicitly opt in before the test.

Can I sync tournaments across devices?

There is no automatic sync. Export a JSON backup and import it into another browser.

When do rounds change?

Daily rounds change every day at 00:00 UTC. Weekly rounds change every Monday at 00:00 UTC.

Are accuracy and duration enforced?

Yes. Complete the timer with at least 90% accuracy and 50 correctly positioned characters to qualify.
